About Me

It’s a wonderful feeling being a teacher.

Such a sense of accomplishment when you see that aha! Eureka! moment on the face of a student.

Especially one who was struggling to get the concept or technique. When they move from being a mediocre Math student to Math student of the year. Just awesome!

I've always been a helper. One who enables others.

It's the one constant in my life, and I'd like to keep it that way.

It's marvelous when your supervisor, colleague or manager extols your virtues.

But for some reason, it's just better coming from a student or someone you helped; more so a stranger.

Hi! I'm Shelly. Thank you for stopping by my community!

The Trendy Techie Guide is a space designated to bringing you quality information to use and apply to your own shenanigans with your drone and other gadgets.

 A dork label is required as content may have information unsuited to overly technically sensitive people. I hope you'll join me in making it soar!

Here, you'll find everything from:

  • DIY to profesional drones;
  • gadgetry tips and tricks;
  • cool and unusual gadgets;
  • rules and regulations;
  • awesome drone footage and photos;
  • festivals;
  • drone racing and many points between.
In short, with each post, I intend to change or improve your droning and gadget-loving life in some way.

I've been known to use highfalutin and archaic words. Please stop me if I do. I'm not weird.

What can I say? I'm limited edition.

Over the years, I've worn many hats:

  • chef
  • teacher
  • trainer
  • coach
  • and computer technician.

I'm an avid reader of mystery and espionage novels. Among my favorite authors are:

  • Sir Author Conan Doyle
  • Agatha Christie
  • Tom Clancy
  • James Patterson
  • Robert Ludlum
  • Robin Cook
  • and the Jurassic Park's Michael Crichton who was so ahead of his time back then.
Not necessarily in that order mind you.

Country Girl

I grew up in the country surrounded by animals and nature.

I love gardening. Not only flowers but fruits and vegetables as well.

When I feel out of sorts I look at nature pictures and if the circumstance permits; take a few shots myself.

What can I say, I love pretty things. I must tell you though, I hate to be photographed, but absolutely love photographing.

Unique Trait: 5 Stars

My most unique trait is that I love unique things. The more beautifully unusual the better. I like DIY projects like making:

  • shelves
  • jewelry boxes from perfume boxes
  • and flower pots from anything that can hold soil - syrofoam, old shoes, bottles.
Blue Lagoon, Jamaica

One of the most beautiful places I've been is the Blue Lagoon in Jamaica.

 I've always yearned to visit Istanbul and the factories where they make Guinness and Bailey's Rum Cream in Ireland.

I'm at peace curled up with a book whether inside or in my backyard under the bamboo tree.

Hired by a Tree

I can say I'm gainfully employed raking bamboo leaves.

It creates an infernal mess! But it provides a cool shade and the susurrus of its leaves is quite beautiful.

It also attracts different types of birds that provide enchanting songs to soothe frayed nerves.

Movies also help to soothe my nerves. I love Jackie Chan movies, especially the end when the credits are going up.

I have always been fascinated by drones and thoroughly enjoyed the drone scene in the A Team - the one with Liam Neeson.

I also love the Transporter with Jason Statham, all the installations of Die Hard and is now engrossed in The Walking Dead.

And yes I cry while watching it.

You know, like when someone dies: Dale, Hershel, Beth.

And most definitely when Daryl does.

I cry when something good happens too.

Besides Rick and little Ass-Kicker Judith, my most favorite character above all is Daryl. He is fantastic! Awesome! So hands on and practical!

Why I Blog

Blogging is for sharing, helping and providing valuable information.

What I like about blogging is the outlet it provides to connect and share not only with friends and family but with the world at large.

It offers me a new way of life where I get to do many things I've always wanted to do - even if it's only vicariously.

It also allows me to jump-start my writing career.

Remember, learning doesn't take place until you put what you've 'learned' into practice.

The more you share or teach someone a (new) technique the more proficient you'll be at it.

Enough About Me

Blogging has a community vibe that fosters, inspires and encourages others to new heights.

So thank you dear reader, for coming along for the flight. You make this worthwhile, and  I'm your numero uno cheering squad.

There are three basic factors that will make you successful:
  1. Persistence. Don't give up easily so quickly. It takes time to learn the necessary skills to be an awesome drone pilot.
  2. Listen to those who know more than you do.
  3. Ask questions. I always encourage my students to ask questions no matter how stupid they think it might be; nor should they pay attention to those who laugh, because they're all listening for the answer too.
